{"id":771,"date":"2017-02-19T11:52:14","date_gmt":"2017-02-19T11:52:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.xsofthost.com\/help\/?p=771"},"modified":"2017-02-19T11:53:58","modified_gmt":"2017-02-19T11:53:58","slug":"how-to-manage-account-suspension-for-cpanel-accounts-within-whm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.xsofthost.com\/help\/how-to-manage-account-suspension-for-cpanel-accounts-within-whm\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Manage Account Suspension for cPanel accounts within WHM"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>How to suspend Unsuspend cPanel accounts from WHM<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Login to <strong>WHM<\/strong> control panel using your account information.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate <strong>Home<\/strong> \u00bb<strong>Account Functions<\/strong> \u00bb<strong>Manage Account Suspension<\/strong> .<\/li>\n<li>you can see the list of domains and username list , either select the domain or username then &#8220;WHM will display <em>unsuspended accounts<\/em> in <strong>white<\/strong>, and displays <em>suspended accounts<\/em> in <strong>red<\/strong> :\n<ol>\n<li>once you select the domain or username if not suspended click suspend button or if its suspended click Unsuspend button.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reason (if suspending)<\/strong>:you can describe the reason why you are suspending the account.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prevent resellers from unsuspending<\/strong>:select this option to ensure that resellers cannot unsuspend the account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"well well-sm  oscitas-bootstrap-container text-red\">Once you suspend cPanel account You cannot change a suspended account&#8217;s password.<\/p>\n<p>Also when you suspend an account, the system adds a special character to the front of the cPanel user&#8217;s password field. This special character creates an invalid hash, which results in an invalid password message to the cPanel user.<\/div>\n<h2><a class=\"lightbox-image-link\" title=\"WHM Manage Account Suspension.\" href=\"\/knowledgebase\/WHM-Manage-Account-Suspension.png\" rel=\"lightbox[583]\" data-lightbox=\"roadtrip\"><img class=\"thumbnail\" src=\"\/knowledgebase\/WHM-Manage-Account-Suspension.png\" alt=\"WHM Manage Account Suspension\" \/><br \/>\n <\/a>What Happens When You Suspend cPanel Account<\/h2>\n<p>According to cPanel documentation the following will occurred by system once you suspend cPanel account:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The system adds the SUSPENDED=1 and SUSPENDTIME=epochdate flags to the account&#8217;s \/var\/cpanel\/users\/user\/cpuser file, where epochdate represents the Unix time at which you suspended the account.<\/li>\n<li>If you select the Prevent resellers from unsuspending checkbox when you suspend the account, the system touches the \/var\/cpanel\/suspended\/user.lock file.<\/li>\n<li>System stops all of the processes that account owns.<\/li>\n<li>The system creates a suspended.lists directory in Mailman and moves the files for each of the account&#8217;s mailing lists to this directory.<\/li>\n<li>The system creates a \/etc\/webdav\/shadow directory in the user&#8217;s home directory.<\/li>\n<li>The system adds LOCKED string to the \/etc\/shadow password files for all of the account&#8217;s email users. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The system no longer allows the account&#8217;s users to send email through the mail server.Also, the mail server will force all mail currently in the outbound message queue from that account&#8217;s users to fail.<\/li>\n<li>The system updates Apache&#8217;s httpd.conf file with a Virtual Host include file for the user.<\/li>\n<li>The system uses the passwd -l command to lock the account&#8217;s \/etc\/shadow password file. This command prepends the account&#8217;s passwords with two exclamation marks (!!).<\/li>\n<li>The system modifies the permissions of the user&#8217;s public_ftp directory to 0000.<\/li>\n<li>The system changes all of the MySQL users&#8217; passwords.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How to suspend Unsuspend cPanel accounts from WHM Login to WHM control panel using your account information.
